About the  Department

  • The Department of Education launched its journey in 1990 as general subject.
  • The Department obtained approved for introducing Education as Honours subject in 2006-2007.
  • At present 35 seats for honours. There are three full time teachers, one part time teacher in the Department.
  • The Department has produced number of students both Honours and General through out the years. Many students of the Department have established Themselves is various sectors, especially as accomplished teachers in various level of schools. Few of them are also engaged themselves as mini tea planter, Officer at Numaligarh refinery, Contractor at Refinary; Also one of them are in Military Service for servicing the nation. And keep touch with the department as alumni.

Our Strength:

  • The Department with its available infrastructure is running smoothly with good team spirit among faculty members. Demographically most of our students are from Tea-garden areas. Wish poor socio-economic background many students are consequently first generation learner.
  • Teacher-Student relationship is the most noticeable feature of the department. We are easily accessible to students and they can unhesitatingly express their difficulties to us. Thus we maintained sweet and live relationship of the department.
  • Avery few of our students are able to enter into P.G. courses and other professional courses. Few of them are working as school teacher, business, military service, small tea planter, Administration and other private service.
  • The department encourages and permits the second and third year students to celebrate fresher’s welcome for the first year students.
  • The Department takes sincere initiative to train the students to participate in Quiz, Debate competitions. We conduct group discussions, Debate, Seminars for the honours students and thereby try to inculcate in then to spirit of creative thinking and competitive spirit
  • Our rich psychological laboratory equipments.
  • Donated  by Numaligarh Refinery Limited,Worth  Rs:2,33000/
  • Also have a big white/green board are another strengths of our department.

Weakness:

  • No doubt our college is a newly provincial zed rural based college under tea tribe area of Sarupothar Sub-Division of Marangi Block.
  • Lack of permanent principal for smooth running of teaching learning process and administration of the college.
  • Lack of sufficient classroom
  • Lack of a well-equipped laboratory.
  • Shortage of practical instruments.
  • Lack of proper supply of Electricity facility.
  • Lack of proper furniture.
  • Lack of well-equipped departmental library.

Opportunities:

In spilt of having sufficient number of limitations, the department tries to render quality education, encourages and prepares students for building their higher academic career.

Challenges:

  • Our College is in rural garden area due to the lack of proper communication most of our students have not reached college on due time for their classes most of them are inhabitant of remote and areas and hence are unable to continue their classes regularly. In terms of psychological practical we need a separate and well furnished laboratory room ,so that we can properly  done our psychological practical.
  • We need a proper book-self for keeping books in the classroom.
  • Almirah for keeping teaching –learning equipments and for keeping other essential documents.
  • Facilities should be provided for power-point presentation in the department.
  • Lack of sufficent fund for successfully running the department. Most of the times, our three faculty members (Daisy, Gitanjali and Monalisha )tries to manage our minimum needs like- we have bought  a departmental Almirah for laboratory equipment's, at the time of Field trip, at the time of visiting lecturer, at the time of our magazines flex making and other equipment. Sometimes our students have financially co-operated us according to their capacity.

  • For the first time our department has published a Hand Written magazine’ MIND-ART’ on 5th September 2019. That is the first hand written magazine of our college. The journey of Mind Art has been continuing right from its birth
  • We have also a departmental wall magazine- “AMAR SONGHITA”.

Future Plans:

  • Educational tours to places of interest, shall be initiated to create educational interest among the students.
  • Keeping in view on the increasing demand on various fields of education, collection of book library shall be increased for the students.
  • Special initiatives so that they will be taken for the development of the weaker students.
  • Plan for identity the meritorious and economically weaker students for financial help to continue their further studies.
  • Try to identity the special abilities and extra qualities of the students so that we can take proper guidance to select a proper career.
