Brief History About the Department :

The department was running from the establishment of the college in the Year of 1990 and the major courses was introduced in the year of 2011. In the beginning the head of the department was Mr. Ratul Borboruah.

  • The Honours, General & DSE courses are offered
  • Admission Criteria : Selection process is preferred according to the choice of the Students.

  • A small departmental Library is available in department.
  • Two newly Constructed Digital Classroom are Available in the college. Which are used by every department of the College.
  • In every semester department organize Departmental seminars, group discussions for the benefit of the students which is an integral part of their       internal assessment.

18  Historiography  HISHDSE-602 ·         The students will be acquainted with the concept meaning, scope and purpose of history and objectives in History.

·         The students will be acquainted with the History and its relations with Archaeology, Epigraphy and numismatics.

·         The students will be acquainted with the History and Geography, History and anthropology, History and Sociology, History and Literature.

·         The students will be know about the expansions of Ahom kingdom, administration system of Ahom, Ahom policy towards neighbouring hill tribes.

20 History of India from the earliest time to 1526 HISGE-2 ·         The students will be acquire knowledge about the sources of Ancient Indian History. This will help the students to reconstruct the History.

·         The students will be acquainted with the rise of territorial states, ascendancy of Magadha and Mouyrayan Empire.

HISGE-3 ·         The students will acquire knowledge about the political condition of Northern India in beginning of 16th Century, foundation of Mughal Empire.

·         The students will be acquainted with decline of Mughal Empire and rise of Maratha Power.

·         The students will be acquainted knowledge about British Conquest of India, revolt of 1857 and freedom struggle.
