SC/ST CELL
MARANGI MAHAVIDYALAYA
Scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled Tribes (ST) have been categorized as the two most backward groups in the Society of India. They include all such castes, races or tribes, which have been declared as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes by the constitution of India under the Provisions of Article 341 and 342 of the constitution of India. Scheduled castes generally represent those communities which have suffered from the stigma of untouchability. Scheduled Tribes are those who have been living in seclusion in hills and forests, more or less untouched by modern civilization and development. After independence, the constitution of India, promulgated in 1950, has recognized the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes as the two most backward groups needing special attention. There are many provisions have been made in the constitution with the view of abolishing all forms of discrimination and putting these groups as par with others. The main purpose of providing reservation for scheduled castes and scheduled Tribes in Government services is not just to give jobs to them, and thereby increase their representations in the services, but to improve their status socially, economically and educationally so that they can take their rightful place in the mainstream of the society.
Therefore, it is very necessary to have a SC/ST cell in a college which may promote the special interests of the students in the reserved category. It is expected to provide special attentions in areas where the students face difficulties. So, by taking into account of these views, a SC/ST cell of Marangi Mahavidyalaya has been formed on 12th April, 2022 with the purpose of empowering the SC/ST students in the college.
